Julius Bussey, 91, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010, at a Decatur care center. Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday, June 26, in Lucas Sylvania Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dwaine Greene officiating. Interment: Following a committal service, Julius will be laid to rest in Birdville Cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lucas Sylvania Funeral Home. Julius was born Aug. 23, 1918, in Fort Worth to Tom and Cornez Bussey. He graduated from Birdville High School in 1936. He attended Texas A&I University and then joined the National Guard and was mobilized with the 36th Division in November 1940. He transferred to the Army Air Corps. In 1943 he married his childhood sweetheart, Anita Parchman Bussey. After the war he continued his education at North Texas State College and graduated with a BS degree in 1948. He began teaching in the Birdville Independent School District and received his master of education degree in 1952 from North Texas State College. Julius served as principal at Birdville Elementary, Richland Elementary, Birdville High School, Haltom High School and O.H. Stowe Elementary. He retired in 1980 after 32 years of service in the Birdville ISD. He had resided in Sunset since 1988. Julius was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Anita Parchman Bussey. Survivors: Son, Bill Bussey and wife, Ginger, of Pflugerville; daughters, Judy Weiner and husband, Larry, of Castle Rock, Colo., Janey Gill and husband, B.J., of Marietta, Ga., Gay McCallum and husband, Chris, of Denton and Kim Kearney and husband, Sam, of Ovilla; grandchildren, Aaron Weiner, David Weiner, Michael Weiner, Jon Gill, Chris Gill, Matthew Gill, Jason Bussey, Emily Bussey, Anna Tyson, Sara McCallum, Katie McCallum, Courtney Campbell and Adam Kearney; and nine great-grandchildren.
