He was William, Jr., and his son was William, III, but whereas they were both *William Edward*, Jr.'s father was *John William*.

Son of John William & Missouri Frances (SHIPPEY) LOKEY. Moved with his parents to Atlanta, Cass County, Texas, about 1878, and to near McKinney in Collin County, Texas, by August, 1879, farming in JP Precinct #1 in 1880. Married 04 JUL 1895 in Ellis County, Texas, to Claudia G. "Claudie" JOHNSON. Engaged in Dry Goods Merchandising with his brother Charles Love "Charlie" LOKEY, at Pauls Valley in the Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory, in 1900. Operated a general merchandise store in Byars, Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma. Entered the cotton and real estate businesses by 1900 (was engaged in the latter in Oklahoma City in 1910) and resided in Walters, Cotton County, Oklahoma, in 1922. Baptist. Father of three children. "Papa" on joint grave marker (with wife), and quote: "He lett [sic - left] us a most noble pattern."

LOKEY, 73, cotton buyer in Dallas since 1926, died suddenly at his home, 3220 Harvard, Thursday night after having been in poor health for a long time. // A native of Georgia, LOKEY was brought to Texas as a child and was reared near Frisco. As a young man he went into the Indian Territory and for a while operated a grocery business there with a brother, later owning a land grant farm there. He also served in his younger life as marshal in several small Texas towns in which he lived. He had been an independent cotton buyer for many years and also had handled real estate. // He is survived by his wife, a sister of Congressman Jed JOHNSON of Oklahoma; two sons, Karl LOKEY, a cotton buyer at Lubbock; W. E.
