Mildred Hartsell Worthington, age 86 of Rowlett, TX, passed away June 17, 2010. She was born June 2, 1924 in Concord, NC, to Charles Frank & Violet Elizabeth (Thomas) Hartsell. Mildred married William H. Worthington, Sr. on February 21, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY. She was voted "Woman of the Year" and president of the Ladies Emblem Club in Portsmouth, VA, in 1986. Mildred had over 5,000 hours of volunteer service with the Ladies Auxiliary at Baylor Hospital of Garland between 1962-1971. She was a member of Monica Park Christian Church for more than 50 years.
Mildred is survived by her husband: William H. Worthington, Sr. of Rowlett, TX; son: Bill Worthington, Jr. & wife Cyndi of Garland, TX; daughter: Phyllis Rimpel of Garland, TX; sisters: Helen Mackenin of Largo, FL, and Francis Lamb of Portsmouth, VA; brother: Bob & Alene Hartsell of Chesapeake, VA; grandchildren: Sheri & Steve Hanson of Royse City, TX, Cecilia Rimpel & Ted D'Atri of Grapevine, TX, Chris Worthington of Dallas, TX, and Phillip Worthington of Frisco, TX; great grandchildren: Madison and Matthew Hanson of Royse City, TX, and Jake and Jordan Worthington of Little Elm, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister: Margaret Mosley.
Funeral services will be held 11:00am, Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Monica Park Christian Church, 2600 Broadway Blvd, Garland, TX 75041 with Rev. Eddie Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
