Gaston Pierce Walker was born 23 March 1853 in Mercer County, WV (then Virginia) to Council and Nancy Bailey Walker, the 9th of 12 children. On 31 December 1874 he married Harriet Elizabeth White of Mercer County and together they had 11 children. The first children were born in Illinois and Indiana where they are found in 1880. Gaston was working as a farmer. However, by 1882, they were back in West Virginia where they remained the rest of their lives. Their home was in the Pinoak area where Gaston was a farmer. A small coal mine is on the property. Gaston Walker died 15 August 1930. His burial place is the McComas-Crotty Cemetery within walking distance of their home.
