In 1899, he married Mary Catherine Vonderhaar and the couple had six children: Mary Catherine, Christian, Jr., Fred, Louis, Edward and Richard.
At the time of his marriage Christian was employeed as a milk-wagon driver on the farm of his father-in-law George Meiners. For many years after that he worked as a tinsmith and metal roofer.
The family lived in the Germantown area of Louisville but after the Great Flood of 1937 he and his wife moved in with their daughter Mary Catherine in the Portland area of the West End of the city.
Christian died of heart failure at home at the age of 83.
Christian was my 2nd great-grandfather.
