Topeka Daily Capital, Wed., 14 Feb. 1979, p 42 (Abstracted):

Mr. Filby died of an apparent heart attack near the Osage County Lake marina. The Osage County sheriff's office said his car had apparently become stuck in snow and mud on a road near the marina. He was probably stricken while attempting to push his vehicle.

He had been employed at the Topeka VA Medical Center since September 1946, first in the nursing department and later in the engineering department.

He was a member of University United Methodist Church, and an Army veteran of World War II.

He was married to Margaret Murphy Feb. 6, 1943, at Atchison. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, a son, his mother, three sisters, three brothers, and six grandchildren.
