Mrs. Wilma Taylor, 88, of Rockwood, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2010 at The Bridge in Rockwood. She was born January 31, 1922 in Rockwood, TN to Elisha B. and Bessie Belle Treadway Holloway. As a young Army wife, she worked in the canteen in Oak Ridge during the Manhattan Project. Her interests included traveling, gardening and the UT VOLs football and basketball teams. In her younger days she enjoyed making pottery and quilting; often gifting friends and family with her works. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Rockwood for over 60 years where she faithfully attended for as long as she was able. She especially enjoyed her Sunday School Class. Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Howard Taylor; son, Jerry W. Taylor; sisters and their husbands, Pearl and Pete Edwards, Goldie and Derby Benson, Beulah and Ed Hinds; sister, Ola Mae Holloway; brother and wife, Jonas and Eva Holloway; brothers, William, Clarence and Hoyt Holloway; in-laws, John Burns, Virginia Holloway, Cecil and Grace Taylor, Sonny & Barbara Taylor, M.F. Taylor, Joyce Hurst, Charlotte Taylor; and life-long friend, Lucille Litton.

The family will receive friends at Evans Mortuary on Thursday, July 1, 2010 from 1:00-2:30 p.m. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel with Rev. Kara Foster officiating. Graveside and burial will be held immediately following the service at Oak Grove Cemetery, Rockwood. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, P. O. Box 45, Rockwood, TN 37854.
