Daniel McKillip was born in County Antrim, Ireland, Oct. 20, 1841, and died at his home in the town of Fayette, near Yellowstone, June 23, 1905, aged 64 years. Deceased came to this country in 1852, when but eleven years of age and settled on the farm which has since been his home. In 1874 he was married to Miss Johanna Walsh, who survives him. To this union ten children were born, two of whom, John, the oldest, and Julia the youngest, preceded their father to the grave. The remaining children are Andrew, Mary, now Mrs. Melvin Burris, Daniel, Eliza, Margaret, Josephine, Martha, and Thomas. He leaves one sister, Mrs. Jane Cassidy of Blanchardville, and two brothers, John of Yellowstone and Andrew of Willow Springs.
Mr. McKillip lived in the town of Fayette for more than half a century. Among his neighbors he was known as an upright man, kind, dependable and always ready to help one in need. He was an earnest Christian, a devout Catholic, his faith in his Heavenly Father was very great, and thruout his illness never wavered.
Mr. McKillip was one of the early pioneers and endured many of the hardships incident to the opening of a new country but by perserverence and industry made for himself and family a comfortable home. Through his illness he had the loving care of his wife and children, and they, with his sisters and brothers, surrounded his bedside as he passed from earth.
The remains were laid to rest in the Yellowstone Catholic cemetery, the Rev. Father Ambauen conducting the funeral services.
