John Kenneth Tate, 85, died on his birthday, May 23, 2004. He was born in Shenandoah in 1919 and lived most of his life there.
He was the son of the late Massey and Emma Bowling Tate.
Preceding him in passing from this life were brothers, Temple and Cassell Tate and sisters, Andrus Sandridge, Lavon Gaynor, Beryl Gibson and Trudy Painter.
Surviving is his wife, Mary Dobbs Tate with whom he was married since December 30, 1939. His sister, Lois Morris still lives in Shenandoah. Also surviving are his son, John Ray Tate and his wife, Biancia from Forrest, Va. Son, Larry Tate and his wife, Rosa Lee, from Stanardsville; grandson, Chris Tate from Austin, Texas; Granddaughter, Lynn Tate Dillingham and her husband, Conner; two great grandchildren, Lyndsey and Peyton Dillingham, from Richmond.
