Old Settler Passed Away Aged 85 Years
Andrew McKillip died at his home in this city on Thursday, June 24, 1920, at the age of 84 years, 10 months, and 28 days.
Mr. McKillip was born in the County of Entrene, (Antrim), Ireland, July 26, 1835. He came to America with his parents when he was 16 years of age, settling at Yellowstone, where Mr. McKillip was employed in the mill for several years. He was united in marriage with Miss Sarah Elizabeth Doan on December 3, 1880, at which time he moved onto a farm in the town of Willow Springs where he continued to make his home until March 1919, when he, together with his wife, moved to Darlington.
Fourteen children were born to this union, seven dying in infancy and one died about three years ago. The surviving children are: Anna, wife of Frank Godfrey of Darlington, John, Daniel, George, Joseph and James of Willow Springs. He also leaves twenty seven grandchildren. Mr. McKillip was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic church. He was ever a good, kind, husband and father and a faithful and lasting friend.
The funeral was on Saturday morning at the Holy Rosary church conducted by Rev. Father Nevins, assisted by Rev. Father Barney.
