One of the leading German citizens, Jacob Galster, died Sunday morning at his home, 608 Prospect avenue, at the age of 49 years. Mr. Galster was born in this city, a son of Matthew Galster who now lives at the corner of Part and Butternut streets. He took an active part in politics early in life and served as alderman of the Fourth ward one term, and for a number of years was harbormaster on the Erie Canal. Mr. Galster was a Mason and a member of the A.O.U.W besides being associated with several German societies. He leaves, besides his wife, four children. The funeral will be held from the house a 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon.
