Loa Y. Hansen passed away peacefully in Payson, Utah on Saturday, June 26, 2010. The youngest of eleven children, Loa was born at home in Lakeshore, Utah on September 21, 1919 to John P. Youd and Sorene Sorensen Youd.
Loa married Ronald C. Nielsen in December, 1935. They moved to Longbeach, CA, where Ron worked at Douglas Aircraft through WWII. Returning to Palmyra in 1948, they bought and operated Ron's father's dairy farm. During this same time, Loa worked for 15 years at the Provo State Hospital and raised two sons, Curtis Y. (deceased) and Larry R. (Deborah) Nielsen. Ron passed away in 1974.
Loa married Bert Hansen in 1976. Together they enjoyed many years of fishing and travel. Bert passed away in 1997.
Loa served in the LDS church, including Relief Society, Young Women's, and various other organizations. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and reminiscing with family and friends. Loa was able to maintain her independence at home within a month of her passing.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lakeshore LDS Chapel, 5916 South 3200 West, Lakeshore, Utah. Family and friends may call at the church on Thursday morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
