From Holland St. John - "James Duckworth Jr. was the son of James Duckworth Sr. and Rebecca (Givens) Duckworth of Black Township, Posey County, Indiana. James was born in 1816, the year that the Territory of Indiana became a state. James was raised on the family farm and his parents had as many as seven sons, but only John, James Jr, William, Sample and Charles have been identified. His parents also raised James Sr's younger brother, Sample. When James Jr was thirty years of age, he married Nancy Rogers in Posey County on December 15, 1846. They had the following children: Charles, James R., John and Martha A. James worked near Farmersville in Posey County as a farmer and sawyer. The U S Census of 1870 reveals that James (54) was working a farm with a value of $5,000, his wife Nancy (47), and children: Charlie (20), James (15), John (11), and Martha A. (8) were living at home. Living nearby were relatives of Rebecca: Charles and Mary Givens (her brother's son) and the Parks family (her nephew Jeremiah Cash Givens married Ella Parks). When James Jr died in early 1876, his estate included a bay horse, beds, a clock, one lot of cupboardware and a promissory note against his cousin, George Givens. Nancy was born in Indiana in about 1823. Following the death of James, she kept house for Richard Dixon in the town of Mount Vernon. On July 13, 1892, Nancy died from "flux". The exact date, place and time of death of James Jr has not been discovered, but it is assumed he was buried in Templeton Cemetery with other members of the Duckworth and Givens families."
