Pilot, Royal Canadian Air Force. Service No: R/145424. Son of Edward C. Tanner and Alice M. Tanner; husband of Betty Louise Tanner, of Keego Harbor, Michigan, U.S.A.

A Pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force, he joined the RCAF in March of 1942 trained in Canada and left for ENgland, were he was stationed at the time of his death Ed was killed in a flying accident at No 15 (pilot) Advanced Flying Unit, On the 20th of July 1943, Oxford BG236 took off at 0915 hours on a non-operational day training flight in which the instructor was authorized to give dual instruction in instrument flying to his pupil. At about 0945 hours BG236 collided with Oxford 721 and both aircraft forced landed to the north of Ramsbury. Crew: Oxford BG236--RAAF 411930 FO Johnstone DDL (pupil instructor)--RCAF Sgt. E.P Tanner ( pupil Pilot) Also noted that Ed tried to transfer to the US Army Air Force but was rejected by them due to his short stature. Ed was employed by Yellow Truck and Coach Manufacturing company before entering the Canadian Army. Ed was a graduate of Roosevelt High school in Kego Harbor Michigan. On July 18,1938 in Bowling Green OH Ed married Betty Edwards, Ed was survived by his wife Betty (Edwards) Tanner, and three children, Edward, Patricia and Diania. His parnets Mr. Edward C. and Alice M.Tanner and two sisters Mrs Harold Washburn, and Mrs Harold Soper. Ed was buried in England
