He was born June 24, 1903, in Beardstown, the son of Andrew Jackson and Wilhelmine Schweer Ackerman.
He married Eva Bernice Jolly; she died in 1962.
He married Ruth Jaggers Hays in 1964 in Bluff Springs.
Also preceding him in death were
a daughter, Bernall Ackerman of Virginia;
a stepdaughter, Alice Lebkuecher of Beardstown;
a stepson, John Hays Jr. of Jacksonville;
six stepgrandchildren;
12 step-great-granchildren;
a brother, William Ackerman of Omaha, Neb.;
and a sister, Helen Gifford of Springfield.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Cline Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial in the Beardstown City Cemetery.
