Husband of Rebecca GARRETT (1817-1891)

Abraham TROUT was born 24 Feb 1812 in Franklin County, Virginia, the son of Abraham Denver TROUT (1783-1863) and Mary LAW (1790-1846).

Abraham married Rebecca GARRETT on 8 May 1834 in Cabell County, Virginia (now WV). At least 10 children were born to this union, to include William Preston 20 Apr 1838; Sarah A., 1839; Benjamin G., 6 Jan 1842; Levi, 1845; John A., 1846; Mary J., 1848; Emma S., 1851; Morgan Lee, 1857; Franklin Morgan, 1858; and Ida TROUT, 1864. The first five children were born in Cabell County, VA (now WV), and the last five children were born in Johnson County, Indiana.

Sons William Preston, Benjamin G., and John A. TROUT all served in the Civil War.

Obit

Abraham Trout died last Friday evening about seven o’clock after a lingering illness. Mr. Trout was about eighty years of age and was one of our most respected and esteemed citizens. The funeral occurred from his late residence on North Yandes st at 9:30, Sunday morning. The remains were interred in the Hurricane cemetery.
