Benjamin Hill Allen was the 7th documented child of 11 born to James Monroe Allen and Clementine Harper Allen. He was born around 1857 in Georgia. He married Mattie Betcher 11 October 1877 in Columbus, Georgia. Ben & Mattie were the parents to 6 documented children. Garney b1888, Minnie L b1890, Myrtle 1892-1938, Blonnie Beatrice 1894-1976, Benjamin Hill,Jr b1895, and Leola 1899.
Ben was a well known shoemaker and his place of business was on the Upper Hamilton Ave in Columbus, Ga. Per his obituary he died at his residence at 1840 3rd Ave at 9:00 AM after a short illness. He was a member of the Pawnee Tribe of Red Men. His obituary has him survived by his wife and 2 brothers. Not sure why his children are not listed. Census records indicate the children listed as above. He was buried in Linwood Cemetery.
