Joseph Brown was a Captain during the Revolutionary War, fought at Bunker Hill and Saratoga, received a ball at Bunker Hill which lodged in his body and was afterwards skillfully extracted and Brown shot it back at Saratoga. In June of 1801 he was fined $.04 by Seth Brooks, collector for the Social Library for soiled pages (pg 194-195) of the Pilgrim Progress. He married first Dorothy Barker daughter of Francis Barker and Dorothy White and they had four children. He married second Elizabeth Putnam and they had eight children
