Age 85, died Saturday, February 29, 1992 at Glacier Hills Senior Living Community Ann Arbor, Mi. She was born September 28, 1906 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Carlton S. and Maude Minerva (Sexton) Shier. Dr. Shier was Curator of the Museum of Archaeology at the University of Michigan, had four degrees from the University of Michigan, was a life member of the Alumni Association, was Librarian for the Bay View Association in Bay View, Michigan, was Curator Emeritus of the the Bay View Association in Bay View, Michigan, and had edited the Glacier Hills News Letter for Glacier Hills Retirement Center. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ann Arbor. Surviving are one brother, Robert M. (Nancy W.) Shier of Newport News, VA; eight nephews; on niece; 22 great-nephews and nieces; and one great-great niece. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William H. and Carlton S. Shier; one sister, Elizabeth Shier. Graveside services will be held at 12 noon Tuesday at Highland Cemetery, Ypsilanti, MI, with the Rev. Russell L. Smith officiating. Memorial tributes may be made the the Bay View Michigan Museum. Friends may call at the MUEHLIG CHAPEL today from 6-8pm.
