The death of Rev. Orris Trowbridge which occurred on Sunday morning last, was a sad surprise to the people of Newark. Although he had been in declining health for two years past, his death was quite sudden even to the family. Rev. Trowbridge was born in Onondaga county, in 1809. His active ministerial life covered a period of thirty-five years. In 1870 he moved to Newark where he quietly spent the remaining years of his life. Deceased was a man of many noble qualities, a good citizen and an able minister of Christ. He leaves a wife, one son, Frank Trowbridge of New York, and a daughter, Mrs. Judge Bateman of Cincinnati. The funeral services were held Tnesday afternoon from the family residence and were participated in by Revs. Wright, Burgess, VanBenschoten, Edson and King.
