Lydia Antoinette Trowbridge was often called Antoinette in her family, she always preferred to be called Antoinette.
Lydia Antoinette married Avery Martin Phelps on 16 Oct 1866 (his 2nd wife) in Newark, Arcadia Town, Wayne Co., New York. They had a son Frederick Martin Phelps, born in 1867 in Newark, Arcadia Town, Wayne Co., New York.
They soon moved to Kalamazoo County, Michigan with Avery's older children. They lived there until Avery Martin Phelps became ill and died from bilbious fever. His older children (they were just about old enough or almost old enough to be on their own) were farmed out to other family members in Galesburg, Kalamazoo Co., Michigan while Lydia decided to return to Newark with young Fred and cared for her parents until their deaths.
Her parents' house #2 High Street (now #104 High Street today) was deeded to Lydia after their death for $1. After she died, that house was passed on to her son Frederick Martin Phelps (Sr.), in which his two oldest children were born. That house is still standing there today.
After Lydia died, she was interred at Willow Creek Cemetery, now called Newark Cemetery. (Note: This cemetery was never called Newark Main Street Cemetery; on the NY Genweb, this cemetery was incorrectly named as "Newark Main Street Cemetery").
