Joseph Granica, 77, Pioneer Resident, Dies at Home

Joseph Granica, age 77 years, a pioneer resident of Ojibwas, WI, passed away at his home on Thursday, June 1.

He was born in Poland on December 18, 1883. He was married in Poland to Victoria Pryzbilski in 1906. Following their marriage, they came to the United States to new York. They made their home in Buffalo, NY for several years. In 1932 the couple moved to Ojibwa and established their home.

He was a member of the Polish National Catholic Church of Radisson. His wife preceded him in death in 1955.

Survivors are his four daughters, Mrs. Jennie Witkowski and Mrs. Wanda Palluck of Chicago, IL, Mrs. Margie Belcher of Durham, NC, and Mrs. Viola Klein of Ojibwa, WI; five sons, Steve and Henry of Ojibwa, Edward who is stationed with the US Navy in Norfolk, VA, Chester of Milwaukee, and Leo of Glenwood City; also one sister, Anna Sztuczinska (or Sluczinski?) in Poland.

The body lay in state at the Anderson Funeral Chapel from Satuday, 1PM until Monday morning, when it was removed to the Polish National Catholic Church at Radisson, where Requiem High Mass was held at 10AM with the Rev. Father Casimir Krysinski officiating in the Catholic Cemetery at Radisson. Rosary services were held at 8PM on Sunday evening at the church in Radisson.

Pallbearers were Chester Korzenieski, John Karpowicz, John Gulan, Stanley Pachmich, Joseph Teneta and Joseph Krynski.
