Brevard, N. C. Virginia Whitmire Hamilton, 81, Brevard died Sunday November 9, 2008 at The Oaks Health and Retirement Center.
She was a native of Jocassee Valley, Oconee County, South Carolina and had resided in Transylvania County, North Carolina for the past 62 years. She was preceded in death by her parents Homer and Iris Lovinggood Whitmire, her husband Lamar Hamilton and her sister Sarah Jane Wooten.
Mrs. Hamilton was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brevard, North Carolina where she had taught Sunday School in the past. She was a volunteer with Transylvania Hospital Auxiliary. She was an employee of Olin Corp. She also loved to travel.
She is survived by a son Larry Lamar Hamilton and wife Sandra of Brevard, North Carolina; two grandchildren and two great grandsons.
The funeral service will be held at Calvary Baptist Mission Church, Pisgah Forest, North Carolina on Tuesday November 11, 2008 at 2 p. m. with Rev. Leo Worley officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 - 1:45 prior to service at the church. Burial will follow at Little River Baptist Church Cemetery.
