Harmon Phipps.
Harmon Phipps, aged 89 years, a veteran of the Civil War; died at the family home at Elmo, Clarion county. He was an Uncle of Miss Verda Kahle and Mrs. Winifred Brady of Oil City. His wife, Harriet Berlin Phipps, died 10 years ago.
The deceased was born August 7, 1841, in the house in which he died. He was engaged as a farmer.
The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the family home.

Civil War service of Harmon Phipps:
Enlisted as a Lieutenant 2nd Class on 16 October 1862. Commission in on 19 November 1862.
Mustered out on 26 July 1863 in Harrisburg, PA
Harmon left the military with a Distinguished Service record.

He and Harriet had no natural children of their own, but unoffically adopted Alice Stover, whom they raised as their own and to whom they left the Phipps home and property.
Harmon's Civil War sword is owned by this contributor's brother.
