FUNERAL SERVICES HERE SUNDAY FOR MANUEL C. PERRY, 96, FORMER KNOX COUNTY MAN

Funeral services for Manuel C. Perry, a former Knox County resident who had lived the last several years in Akron, Colorado, were at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home here. The Rev. J.I. Shoemaker of Moberly officiated and burial was in the Novelty Cemetery. Mr. Perry, who was the father of Mrs. Stanley Berry of Edina, died Wednesday July 29, 1964, at Washington County Hospital there where he had lived three years and three months. He was 96 years old and had taught school in Knox and Macon Counties and also did carpentering.

Besides Cleo, Mrs. Berry, he also leaves another daughter, Hazel, Mrs. Gordon Arnett, of Oakland Calif., and four sons, C. Gail Perry of Tehachapi, Calif., Roscoe G. Perry of Warsaw, Mo., Porter B. Perry of Santa Ana, Calif., and Joe I. Perry of Akron. He also leaves 14 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

He was born Mar 28, 1868, at LaCrosse, Mo a son and the last member of a family of nine children of Charles Robert and Allie E. Heaten Perry. He was married to Iva Myrtle Porter at Novelty, Aug. 18. 1895 and she preceded him in death Feb 22, 1908. He had attended the old Oak Lawn College at Novelty and the Northeast Missouri State Teachers College at Kirksville. He went to Colorado in 1910 and staked a claim and during the winters returned to Missouri to teach school. He also taught in Colorado and his last school was in 1944.

Besides his wife, his parents, three brothers, George, Andrew and Franklin and five sisters, Emma, Martha, Mary, Elizabeth and Cora and two grandsons preceded him in death.
