Second Marriage: Then on April 26, 1839, John J. Bunce married his second wife, Fanny Fester Sackett. Fanny was born 1819 and died Dec.12, 1844. John and Fanny had four children: (1) Laura Ann born July 26, 1840; (2) James H. born March 14, 1842; (3) Hannah M. Bunce born Dec. 25, 1843; and (4) Fanny E. Bunce born Dec. 12, 1844. Fanny was a widow when she married John Bunce, she already had had a son from her first marriage-- Arden Sackett. After Fanny's death, John raised the step-son, Arden, as one of his own.
Then John married his third wife, Dorcas (Carpenter) Hurd, another widow. Her late husband was Dr. Isaac Hurd of Milan. Dorcas already had 5 children by Dr. Hurd, as follows: (1) Maria, born 1836; (2) George, born 1838; (3) Andrew, born 1840; (4) Hannah, born 1842; and (5) Mary Ann, born 1844. John Bunce took in all five of these step children and raised them on his farm in London Township; however his family moved to Milan in 1883.
John Bunce and Dorcus Hurd had three children together: (1) Alice L. b. Sept. 9, 1852; (2) Henry W. b. Dec. 24, 1855; (3) Jennie b. Dec. 19, 1857.
