Miss Bessie Walta Davis

Miss Bessie Walta Davis, age 22, passed away at the Vicksburg infirmary on Sunday, August 28th, following an acute attack of malaria.

Funeral services were conducted at Vaiden Baptist church on Monday afternoon, August 29th, at four o'clock by the Rev. Madison Flowers, of Goodman, assisted by the Rev. Parker, of the Presbyterian church, and the Rev. Pipes Jones, of the Episcopal Church. Interment was in the Vaiden cemetery with Lee Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter R. Davis, of Vaiden. She graduated from the Vaiden High School and Holmes County Junior College, Goodman, completed a business course and worked for some time in Memphis. When she became ill recently, she was employed by a large lumber concern at Late Providence, La. She was a member of the Vaiden Baptist church and her sudden death has grieved many in this section.

Besides her parents, Miss Davis is survived by her grandmother, Mrs. R. B. Smith, of Vaiden.
