Floyd Risner, 82, of Wheelersburg, passed away Monday, July 19, 2010, in Best Care Nursing Home in Wheelersburg.

He was born Dec. 23, 1927, in Hindman, Ky., the son of the late Kelly and Sallie (Grigsby) Risner. He was an Army veteran of WWII and retired from OSCO Industries. After retirement he worked at the flea market in Wheelersburg. His favorite past time was square dancing, now he is dancing with Jesus.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma (Toland) Risner; two sisters, Zola Hilton and Rachael Owsley; four brothers, Edward, Arnold, Proctor Jr., and Andrew; and two grandchildren, Timmy and Angel.

He is survived by nine children, Larry (Sylvia) Risner of Betsy Layne, Ky., Harold (Rita) Risner of North Vernon, Ind., Leonard (Vikki) Risner of New Boston, Linda Baker of Wheelersburg, Vernon (Teresa) Risner of Wheelersburg, Eugene (Pam) Risner of Minford, Darlene Kay Stiles, Brenda Risner and mother Effie Smith Risner, Trina Deemer and mother Yuveda Deemer of Wheelersburg; and 10 grandchildren, Julie (Bruce) Rennemeier, Jason (Ashlie) Risner, Wes (Tracie) Baker, Tiffany (Philip) Llewellyn, Stephanie (Carlos) Stapleton, Matthew Risner, Christopher (Kim) Risner, Chris Risner, Amanda Risner and Alyssa Risner. Floyd was blessed with 13 great-grandchildren, Casey Stapleton, Brad Garrett, Hannah Rennemeier, Brianna (Kelley) Baker, Dylan Llewellyn, Andrew Risner, Drew Howard, Justin Rennemeier, Cameron Colbert, Jordan Risner, McKenna Risner, Carly Stapleton and Dallas Llewellyn. Also surviving are three sisters, Hester Compton of Minford, Louise Slone of Kentucky and Lorraine Hilton of Arizona; four brothers, Dewey Risner of Florida, Ernie, Les and Joe Risner, all of southern Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted by the family at noon Friday, July 23, 2010, at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford. Burial will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Minford. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour before the service on Friday. Military graveside rites will be conducted by James Irwin Post No. 622 American Legion and William A. Baker Post No. 363.
