Nelson Stokes, 86, of highland, died yesterday after a long illness. He was born in High Falls, son of the late Silas and Eliza Deitz Stokes. A retired carpenter, he had lived in Highland since 1927. Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Sarah Margaret Lyons of Highland, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Pine Funeral Home, New Paltz, with the Rev. Willett Porter of the New Paltz Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the New Paltz Rural Cemetery.
