Delmer O. Groff, 92, of Claremont, died at 11:50 am Saturday, December 6, 2003, at Lawrence County Healthcare Center in Bridgeport.
Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Monday, at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. today at the funeral home with Minister Ben Woollard officiating.
Burial was in Eureka Cemetery in rural Claremont.
Mr. Groff was born on February 20, 1911, in Colony, OK, the son of Harvey and Hulda (Luther) Groff. He married Anna Irene Catterton on January 14, 1933. She preceded him in death on November 1, 1996.
He was a retired school custodian.
Mr. Groff is survived by a son, John Groff of Claremont; five daughters, Doris Hedge and her husband, Andrew, of Frichton, IN, Cleo Jones, of Olney, Joann Deck and her husband, Tilden, of Newton, Beulah Doty, of Fairfield, and Darlene Hawkins, of Lawrenceville; a sister, Laura Crites, of Claremont; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and special caregivers, Sara and Nicole Ash.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a son, Robert Edgar Groff, a grandson, John William Hedge, and a great-grandson, Steve McDowell.
