Mother of George J. Schuneman Passes Wednesday Morning

Mrs. Caroline Schuneman, 85, native of Manlius and its oldest citizen passed away at 6:20 a.m. Wednesday at the Perry Memorial Hospital at Princeton where she had been a patient for several weeks. Mrs. Schuneman had been in failing health since the death this spring of her daughter, Mrs. Will Lemke, with whom she had her home and she continued to live in the home after Mrs. Lemke passed away.

Funeral services will be held at the English Lutheran church at Manlius, with the Rev. John Zeltin, pastor, officiating. Committal will be in the Manlius Cemetery.

Mrs. Schuneman was born in Manlius Township, March 3, 1859, the daughter of George and Theresa Krebs. She was reared and educated in the that vicinity and on Dec. 9, 1879 was married to Christian Schuneman of Manlius, who preceded her in death Feb. 22, 1930. Mrs. Schuneman's interests revolved around her home and church. She was of the Lutheran faith.

Of her nine children, six survive; George J. of Sterling, Albert, Carl, Mrs. Mary Le Bahn, Mrs. Freda Barber, all of Manlius, and Mrs. Clara Haas of Van Orin. There are 27 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Two of her grandchildren are in the armed forces. Also surviving are two aged brothers, George Krebs, 84, of Manlius and Jacob Krebs, 87, of Friend, Neb.

Besides her daughter, Mrs. Lena Lemke, and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Bernard, one child in infancy and a sister, Mrs. Adolph Schuneman.
