About Rolfes, Anton (Anthony)
Source: Negaunee Iron Herald, March 2, 1917. Anton Rolfes Dead: Anton Rolfes, who had been a resident of Negaunee for the past thirty-six years, died last Sunday at the home of his son, Henry Rolfes, East Clark street. Mr. Rolfes would have been 77 years of age had he lives until next May, and he had enjoyed quite good health until last autumn. It was early in November that his physical condition began to guve his relatives concern. He continued to become more feeble, but thought he had not been out of doors in nearly four months he was able to move about the house up to the end. In fact, he was going from one room to another about 1:30 p. m. last Sunday when he was seized with a paralytic stroke which caused his death a short time afterward. Mr. Rolfes was a native of Germany and came to Negaunee in 1881, having spent six months in Illinios immediately following his coming to this country. His wife died about a year prior to Mr. Rolfes` departure from Germany, Three children had been born to the couple, a son having died about twenty-five years ago and a daughter dying about a year later.Besides the son, Henry Rolfes there survive two sisters, Mrs C. Sporley and Mrs. N. Eagle, both residents of Negaunee and three grandsons and five granddaughters. Funeral services were conducted at St. Pauls Catholic Church Tuesday morning by the pastor Rev. Joahnn (can`t read)(Died on a Sunday and reported following Friday`s newspaper)
