About Rodell, John, Jr.
Source: Negaunee Iron Herald, Feb. 12,1909. John Rodell, a well-known citizen, who had charge of underground track work at the Blue mine, was fatally injured last Friday afternoon, dying shortly before the hospital was reached. Mr. Rodell was walking beside one of the underground motor tracks, as was his custom in performances of his duties in keeping the cars in repair, and as there was plenty of room beside the track and he was thoroughly familiar with the movements of the cars, the manner in which he came to got caught by the train is unexplained. His lower limbs were crushed and he sustained internal injuries. Mr. Rodell was about 60 years of age and he had resided here nearly forty years, the family home being in Mill street. He is survived by a widow and six children. He was a member of St. Paul's Court, C. O. F., and of the German Aid Socicty. The funeral was largely attended, for he was a man who stood high in the esteem of his employers, his co-workers and his fellow citizens generally. (Died on a Friday and reported follwing Friday newspaper)
