About Arneth, Margaret (Maggie)
Source: Negaunee Iron Herald, Decembar 4,1927. SPENT MANY YEARS HERE Mrs. Margaret Rodell. Who Died Last Friday. Mrs. Margaret Rodell, who passed away last Friday, was among Negaunee`s oldest residents, for all but twenty of her seventy-three years of life had been spent in this community. It was not until quite recent years that her health began to fail, and she was actually ill only five days, when an attack of pneumomia proved to be too much for her advanced years and depleted strength. Deceased was a native of Germany, and it was fifty-three years ago, as Margaret Arneth, that she began her long residence in Negaunee. Her marriage to John Rodell occurred a year or two later, and Mr Rodell met death in an accident at the Blue mine nearly seventeen years ago. In latter years she has made her home with a son, John Rodell, in Bluff street. Mrs. Rodell is survived by four children---Mrs. Henry Rolfes, of Kenosha, Wis., Mrs.Otto Langer, of Burlinton, Iowa, and Messrs. John and George Rodell, of Negaunee. A brother, George Arneth, and several grand-children also survive. The Funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning at St. Paul`s Catholic Church, of which deceased had been a faithful member throughout her long residence in Negaunee and the funeral mass was sung by Rev. George J. Dingfelder, of the Holy Name Orphanage, Marquette, who is a nephew of the deceased. Mrs. Henry Rolfes, of Kenosha, who was called here on account of the death of her mother, the late Mrs. Rodell, received a telegram shortly after the funeral services advising her of the serious illness of her daughter at Rockford, Ill. and Mrs.Rolfes left that same evening to be with her daughter. Mrs. Rolfes had intended making Negaunee friends a visit before her return. (Died on a Friday, reported on the following Friday newspaper)
