Wife of A. Edgar Tripp, Born 19th January, 1856 Died 17th April 1879.

Daughter of William Tucker (the then Attorney of the Macqueripe Estate) and married his business partner, Edgar Tripp. Edgar Tripp would later pioneer electrical lighting in Trinidad.
Amelia died during childbirth in 1877 at the age of 24.
Being of high status in the community on her burial she was appropriated with a tomb having a marble cross with the inscription.

It was the general opinion in those days That only the wealthy were given tombs on dying, whereas a wooden cross showed people of the working class.

Inscription

Bright be the place of thy soul;
No lovelier spirit than thine
E'er brush from its mortal control
In the Orbs of the blessed to shine

Gravesite Details

Headstone is faded at a little difficult to read and the cross from the top of it is missing. Grass has grown in the tomb itself and the other crosses close by, some have fallen. They bare no name. Amelia's tomb is easy to spot and the largest.
