Birdseye--A. H. Abell, 87, died at 1:45 p.m., Thursday, April 14th, at his home. He was a member of the Barracks 497 Veterans of World War 1. Survivors include his wife, the former Zelma Choate; a son Leroy Abell , of Birdseye; two daughters, Mrs. Rose Marie Smith, of Jasper, and Mrs Delores Abell, of Birdseye, and two grandchildren. Burial was in the Mentor Cemetery.

World War I draft registration: born in Kyana, Dubois County, Indiana; employed as a motor man Louisville Kentucky, single, tall, slender, gray eyes and dark hair.
World War II old man's draft: 5"10" tall, 150 lbs, gray eyes, gray hair, light complexion

Enlisted in World War I out of Louisville Kentucky on 18 Feb 1918 and released on 19 Jul 1919 as a Corporal.
