Missouri Death Certificate #6502 and Craighead Family History:

Samuel Craighead was born February 28, 1860, in Hams Prairie, Missouri, to Mark Anthoney and Carolyn Celeste (Payne) Craighead. His Mother died when he was small and his father and step-mother, Barbara Ann (Debo) died before he was very old. Samuel and his siblings were adopted out to relatives and friends.

He lived in Calwood, Missouri all his adult life and married Lillie Draper, a native of Calwood and she preceeded him in death. Sam and Lillie were married January 20, 1891, in Calwood, by George W. Penn, Minister of the Gospel. Lillie was underage so her father gave permission for their marriage.

He died at age 80 on February 19, 1941 at his home of Bilateral Broncial Pneumonia. His daughter, Lela Williams, was the informant.

They had one daughter, Lela Lessie and also raised a Grandson Samuel Leslie Strait. They lived South of Calwood, Missouri on a large farm until later years (the house is still standing and has been remodeled several times). They then moved 5 miles North-East of Calwood and Samuel opened a feed store and Blacksmith shop. Lillie died in 1917 and Sam raised Leslie alone into adulthood.

He is survived by his daughter, Lela (Tom) Williams of Fulton, three grandsons Leslie Strait, Thomas Stanley Williams and Eddie Ray Williams, one granddaughter Claresse Dean Williams, five great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters. Clarisse Dean loved to go to her grandpa's farm.

Sam was preceeded in death by his parents, his step-mother, Barbara Ann Debo Craighead and his wife, Lillie.

Funeral arrangements and interment arranged by Leo Wallace Wallace Funeral Home. Sam and Lillie Share a tombstone, it is in good condition and easy to read.
