Turkey was actually a large game rooster. At the time my daddy was into game rooster fighting. He gave me a large game rooster; thus the naming of Turkey. He fought in a tournament where several roosters were put in the pit at the same time. I was sure my Turkey would survive as he was bigger than all the rest. But I wasn't aware that all the others would gang up on him first, which is exactly what they did. He was the first to die in that fight.

Game rooster fighting was illegal in many places at the time; however, it was legal at that time in Oklahoma. I'm not sure if it still is or not. I've heard that it's no longer legal there either.

I want to also add that my dad later quit fighting game roosters. He quit many things, and I know he was saved and is in heaven now.
