GEORGETOWN, S.C. — Mr. Eugene "Monty" Coleman, 35, of Columbia, S.C., died Sunday, July 25, 2010, in Columbia.

Mr. Coleman was born in Waterbury, Conn., on March 25, 1975, to Eugene Coleman II and Linette Woodbury. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, James and Louise Woodbury, and his paternal grandfather, Eugene Coleman Sr.

He was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury in 1993 and a member of the Hearts football team. He achieved a bachelor of science in justice and law administration with a minor in sociology from Western Connecticut State University in Danbury in 1998. He was very active in campus activities and well liked and respected by students and faculty.

He was currently employed as claims adjuster for Allstate Insurance while in Columbia. Prior to relocating, he worked for the Hartford Insurance Company.

He had an infectious smile that would light up the darkest room. He saved his biggest smile for his daughter, Treasure, who he loved more than anything. He was a devout fan of Sacred Heart and UConn basketball. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Mr. Coleman is survived by his mother, Linette Woodbury of Georgetown, S.C.; his father, Eugene Coleman II; his daughter, Treasure Avyan Coleman; his siblings, Asia Moss (Jermaine), Lamarr Coleman and Chaz Coleman; and his paternal grandmother, Janette Thomas (William). He is also survived by his nieces, Asjah and Nia Coleman, and Journey Moss, and a nephew, Lamarr Coleman Jr., all of Waterbury.

Funeral services for Mr. Coleman will be held 2 p.m. today at First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in St. Luke Cemetery, Georgetown County, S.C. A future memorial will be held in Waterbury, Conn., at a location, date and time yet to be determined.
