Funeral services were held last Wednesday, April 10, for Oscar Berglund, 73 at Chisago Lake Lutheran church, Center City with Pastor W. Burdett Benson officiating.

Organist at the 2 pm service was Mrs. Harold DeBoldt and soloist was Mrs. Charles Sundberg.

Pallbearers were Elmer Johnson, Gunnar Palmer, Victor Ehrenberg, Edward Grandstrand, Arnold Frederickson and Robert Nelson.

Interment was in Hillside Cemetery, Center City.

Oscar Edwin Berglund was born October 17,1894 at Scandia, the son of William Berglund and his wife Emily (nee Magnusson) who were farming. He was baptized Dec. 18,1894 and confirmed May 18, 1910 at Elim Lutheran Church of Scandia. He became a member of Chisago Lake Lutheran in Center City at the time of his marriage.

He married Hanna Emelia Hall of Center Citty on Feb. 24, 1917 and their married life was crowned by the celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary February of last year.

One daughter and 3 sons were born to this union. Over the years the couple enjoyed farming south of Center City as well as construction, ownership and operation of the Lakeview Motel in Lindstrom for 9 years.

Mr. Berglund also enjoyed and did much electrical work in the area. In 1959, they retired and made their home in Lindstsrom.

On Saturday, April 6 while in their automobile, Mr. and Mrs. Berglund were struck by another car, rendering in their hospitalization. Early the following morning, Palm Sunday, April 7, Mr. Berglund died.

He is survived by his wife, Hannah of Lindstrom. The daughter is Marjorie (Mrs. Kenneth W. Anderson) of Lindstrom with whom of Mr. Berglunds granddaughters, Pamela and Patricia.

The 3 sons are Glendan Berglund of Lindstrom with Dorothy and children Garrell, LeAnn and Sharon; Kenneth Berglund of Brooklyn Center and wife Lillian and sons Robert, Richard and John, Darwin Berglund wife Lois and their children Darrell and Cherol of Lindstrom.

Besides the one daughter and son-in-laws and
3 sons and daughters in law and 10 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild , 3 sisters also survive Edith,Mrs.Roy Horton of Lindstrom, Jenny who is Mrs. Sylvester Lemezis and Zelma, Mrs. Ernest Vorpahl both of Stockton, CA.

Mr.Berglund was preceded in death by 5 brothers and two sisters, Ben and Victor of Stillwater, Arvid of North Dakota, Fred of Osceola and Enoch of So. St.Paul. The sisters are Lily (Mrs. Ernest Lund) of Rush City and Anna of Lindstrom.
