August Kallmyer was the son of Christian Kallmyer and Henrietta Douching. He and his family came from Clausthal in Hannover, Preuben, now Lower Saxony, Germany about 1854. They settled in Frostburg where August married Eliza Hosslerode about 1867. He worked as a stable boss and laborer. August was the brother of Lewis Kallmyer and Johanna K. Houser, also Frostburg area residents.
