Bailey: -- W. Hutchinson, son of Daniel and Phebe Bailey, was born in Hamilton Co., Ohio, April 30, 1823; departed this life March 23, 1897;aged seventy-three years, ten months and twenty three days. In 1838 he moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he worked at the tailor trade fourteen years. In 1844 he was united in marriage to Miss Margaret A. Wilson. This union was blessed with five children, three sons and two daughters. In1858 he moved to Farmland, In, where in 1861, the home circle was broken by the death of his companion. In 1863 he was united in marriage with Miss Malinda Smithson. to them were born six children, three sons and three daughters, one daughter preceding him to the spirit land. Amidst this severe suffering of seven months duration, he always manifested a christian spirit, often shouting the high praises of God, in the midst of awful pain. He was a member of the M. E. church for many years, and a full believer in that religion that so happily fills the soul, manifesting itself in shouting the high praises of his Heavenly Father and now while we stand on this shore, with tear-dimmed eyes, he is enjoying the sweets of that good land, and the presence of Him who is the resurrection and the life. So we bid thee good-bye, dear husband, and father, promising to meet thee in the morning.
The funeral services were held at the M. E. Church, conducted by Rev. W.E. McCarty assisted by Rev. S. S. Hinshaw and Rev. Whitsel. The text used was 2nd Tim, 4th chapt., 6, 7, 8th verses, after which services he was laid to rest in beautiful Fountain Park cemetery to await the call of the Lord.
