Robert Austin, 83, of Pinopolis, a retired maintenance supervisor for Westvaco, died on the evening of September 23, 2007 in a N. Charleston health care center.
Mr. Austin was born December 23, 1923, in Pinopolis, a son of Robert C. Austin and Lottie Metts Austin. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Austin was a member of the First Baptist Church, Moncks Corner, and the Jones Wilderness Hunting Club.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Bunch Austin; two sons, Mike R. Austin and wife, Denny and Allen Austin and wife, Vanessa, all of Pinopolis; four grandchildren, Jill Welch, Leanda Austin, Heather Austin, and Meagan Austin; and three great-grandchildren, Deana Austin, Caroline Welch, and Ransom Welch.
