T/5 James graduated from New Philadelphia Jigh School in 1939 and was employed at the Robinson Clay Products Co. plant at Parral.
He was married to Louise Martinelli in June 1942.He enlisted on 27 October 1942 and received their training at Camp Atterbury, Indana and Camp Breckenridge, Kentucky. He was sent overseas on 9 April 1944.He had been awarded the Combat Infantryman's Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. T/5 Charles James Jr. and T/5 Angelo P. Marcaletti were killed when a land mine exploded under them while they were laying communication lines. His buddy, T/5 Angelo P. Marcaletti, is buried at Margraten at Plot N, Row 1, Grave 11.
