PFC Robert Carte was killed in action May 28 while fighting in Italy. His mother Evelyn Carte of Ward has been notified by the War Department. The 20 year old soldier who had been oversees only a few months, had been in the army just a year. Mrs. Carte has two other sons in the service, Seaman 2nd Class Eugene Carte and PFC Thurman Carte stationed in Texas.
