James son of Gideon Buck & Sarah Allen a pioneer settler of Rothville died at home of his son Dr U. G. Buck of pneumonia. He married Harriet Mosher in 1843 in Knox Co., Illinois and their children were Wm, Ruth, Sarah, Albina, Alice, & Erastus. Only Sarah & Alice lived to marry. After Harriet died James married Deborah Adelia Crawford in 1865 and their children were Thomas J., Frank, & Mary. In 1860 James & family removed to the area that is now Central city, Gilpin Co., Colorado. His wife Deborah died and soon after James went back to Illinois where he married Mary Stiner, they had one son Ulysses Grant Buck.
