The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:
BEAUMONT, HERBERT. Private. No 5536. 1/5th Battalion Duke of Wellington’s Regiment,
attached 2/10th Battalion King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. Born 4th quarter of 1894 in Hepworth. Son of Hannah Wibberley and stepson of George Wibberley of Greengate, Holmbridge. Employed as a weaver at Clarence Mills, Holmbridge. Was a playing member of the Holmbridge Football Club. Enlisted March 1916. Embarked for France in July, 1916. Wounded on 27.9.1916 and lay out in No Man’s Land for two days before he was found. Died of gunshot wounds to the chest, 10.10.1916, aged 21 years.
Buried ABBEVILLE COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION. Grave location:- Plot 1, Row H, Grave 11. ROH:- Holme and Holmbridge War Memorial; Hade Edge War Memorial; Huddersfield Drill Hall.
