Harold served as a First Lieutenant & Pilot on A-20G "Black Sunday" #42-86768, 90th Bomber Squadron, 3rd Bomber Group, Light, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Monroe County, New York & was a member of the New York National Guard prior to the war.

His National Guard unit was called into full time active Army service on October 15, 1940, prior to the war, from Rochester, New York. He was noted, at that time, as being employed in the production of chemical products with the Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester and also as Single, without dependents.

Harold was declared "Missing In Action" when his A-20G crashed at sea for unknown reasons during the war.

He was awarded the "Distinguished Flying Cross", Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, and a Purple Heart.

Harold's mother, Mrs. Leona Carr who resided in Santa Monica, California, received a letter from General Douglas MacArthur which noted her son Harold & his crew were on a personal mission for him at the time of his passing.
