Herbert Dean Murphy, 65, died suddenly at his home at 2102 Great Bridge Road, South Norfolk, today about 10:30 a.m. He was a native of Princess Anne County and had lived in this section all his life. He was the son of the late Solon and Mrs. Georgia Anna Twiddy Murphy.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Gilbert Murphy; three daughters, Mrs. Charles Snyder, of Staunton, Miss Ruth Francis Murphy, of South Norfolk, and Miss Etta Ree Murphy of South Norfolk; one son, Melvin H. Murphy, of Norfolk County, and Tulley Murphy, of Norfolk; three sisters, Mrs. Rufus Arrowood, of Ocean View, Miss Addie Murphy of Ocean View and Mrs. Luther Culpepper, of Elizabeth City, N.C., and three grandchildren.
The body was removed to the Francis A. Gay Funeral Home pending funeral arrangements.
