A telecommunications engineer, Bob worked at Alcatel-Lucent for the past 20 years. Bob was one to jump in and help wherever needed, especially within his church community. As an elder, he was instrumental in keeping Freedom River together during difficult times. The support and encouragement he gave strengthened and enriched the lives of all he touched. Most recently, he was a small group leader for Kidspointe South at Crosspointe Church in Cary. Children flocked to Bob because of his infectiously fun personality. He never met a stranger and everyone was a friend to him. From 1995-2003 he served as the President of the Emerald Chase HOA.
In addition to his wife Nancy, sons and daughter-in-law, Bob is also survived by his mother Edith, sisters Kathy (Russ) Northrop, Maureen (Steve) Wayman and Joan Scallion, and brothers Tom (Rosie) and Peter, and a slew of nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Bob.
Services will take place on Sunday, July 11 at Renaissance Funeral Home, with visitation from 1:30-2:30 immediately followed by the funeral. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or to Crosspointe Church.
The family would like to thank the EMTs who so valiantly tried to return Bob to his loving family. We rejoice in knowing he is now at home with his Heavenly Family.
